Getting Started

Here's my plan.  About once a week I will try my best to actually post a blog on this site.  So there's a really obvious question; why should any intelligent person who's time is obviously just as valuable as mine, who's opinion is just as valuable as mine, why should that person read this blog?  I can't really think of a good reason except the outside possibility that you and I have a couple things in common.

What things?  Well for one, I've started having allergic reactions to people who have all the answers, particularly when it comes to spirituality (and fly-fishing).  I usually experience one of two kinds of reactions; either I suddenly experience extreme doubts about my own faith or I experience extreme doubts about theirs.  I guess I have doubted everything that can be doubted.  Maybe you have too.

Hopefully another thing I will have in common with you is a commitment to actually be serious about spirituality.  I think that human beings are spiritual creatures and I think that we intuitively know that spiritual health is important.  If you feel the same way we may be able to help each other.  Maybe we can engage in conversations that will help us become the people we were created to be.

One other thought, you should know that my faith tradition is Christian.  I have a deep belief that somehow the world is being changed, even transformed, because of the movement started by a first century Jewish Rabbi named Jesus of Nazareth (although I'm sometimes like the man who told Jesus, "I believe, help my unbelief.")

If you're at all interested in joining this conversation I would really like to hear from you.  I promise that I will do my best to be courteous and respectful, especially when we disagree.  So let's talk.
